On Monday 11th June we had a Volunteer Work Day. A group of Wigan employees from the Audit office worked on the site under The Deal which allows Wigan workers to volunteer on a working day. We also had some Hamlet Trainees and some members of the Carbon Landscape working with the Friends.
We split up into groups and got lots of work done during the day.
One group worked on the edge of the lake and filled in some of the holes that had appeared. A second group started to clear Arena Hill path and after lunch they balsam bashed the bridle path. The third group worked round the lake edge, cutting back foliage and clearing under benches and picnic tables.
We were all very tired at the end of the day but felt we had done something to improve the park.
