Of course the land does not belong to the Friends and we needed to ask Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust [WLCT] if we could tackle changing this piece of land into a garden.
A group of Friends met with Graham Workman, Wigan’s Wildlife Officer, and talked to him about our plan. He was in agreement with our idea and promised to help us by getting some of the trees cut down. Two were in a bad condition and the removal of two more would let more light into the garden. He also said he would get the whole area sprayed to kill the weeds.
Wigan’s GreenSpaces Team sprayed the area.
